Meena Kumari doesn't need introduction. She was not just extremely talented but also a philanthropist, kind, even-tempered, sensitive, sacrificing and what not. Annulled from husband Kamal Amrohi (whom she married in 1952 and divorced in 1964), in pursuit of true love, unfortunately she fell in love with opportunist Dharam, who needed a crutches to step up to the ladder to success. But when his love for Meena was proved to be spurious, her golden heart shattered into pieces. She began to lead a recluse life. She started even consuming liquor and became drunkard. It seems, happiness, bliss and fragrance of true love had never been destined to her. Whosoever came in her life took the advantage of her innocence and left her alone.
The opportunist Dharam can never be happy after besmirching or hurting such a pious soul. He used her publicity and got the immense support which he was in direly need of, being a new comer. But when she put her head on his shoulder he shuddered and had his own way. Perhaps this is the world.
Very few people know that Dharamendra was the main reason of her untimely death.
